Original Lipstick Colours On a Dime

Disclaimer: No lips were hurt in the producing of this article. However, because you are combining lipsticks which may not be chemically compatible, seek a degree in chemistry first, or see a doctor, or just risk your lips self-destructing in 20 seconds!

If there’s anything that makes a girl feel dressed up it’s lipstick. On the days when you are wearing your oldest clothes or scariest hair (it’s meant to look like that, right?!), you can slap on some lippy and still pull-up looking like a million dollars!
First Law Of The Lips is never throw out any lipstick, because when times are tough you need to pull out all your girl-power and shine like the star you are!
Here’s the secret.
Save heaps of dollars on lipstick by mixing older ones together, or combining the ones you have bought on a whim and decide they don’t suit you, or, now hate. Blending them will give you such an array of colours you will be amazed. And not one day the same as the next, just from blending! Trial and error them, by layering, either directly on the lips or swirl the colours together using a lippy brush on something plasticy or glassy. Here’s the trouble ‘it ain’t be yer lips!’ Then there’s the wastage of what you haven’t used, unless you can find a tinsy pot to place it in. Half the fun is creating a new colour or tone good to go!
Sometimes I have three or more layers of different colour lipstick on just to get the right shade or look to go with either the glad rags or the saggy bags.
Before you run off into the sunset can you remember the hot combination? The amount of times I wished I had written them down [groan]. When you hit the malls go shopping for the ultra-ultra el cheapo ‘on sale’ lipsticks. Find the ones you think you like and yes did I mention... blend?
For as long as donkey ears I have been doing this and still do. It saves me a fortune and I do it directly on the lips and have the most vibrant and interesting colour combinations ever! Many ask what my lip colour is or what brand of lipstick I use, but of course my lips are sealed.
Oh, and don’t forget to dig out the last of the lipstick with that lip brush or cotton bud (WARNING: Do not clean your ears with it first!) you’ll be surprised how many more wears you have beyond the beginning of the end of the lippy tube.
Another tip is to dust your lips first with translucent powder, then put on your first lippy layer (use lip liner first if you wish) then slip a tissue between the lips and say ‘um’ then reapply translucent powder and carry on with your layers. The translucent powder makes the lipstick last longer. Believe me your lips will still look great after eating or drinking.
Blend blend blend and you’ll have the most original combination on this planet ...and that makes my lips very happy!
